Invitation to join PACBIC's Employment Equity Working Group

The President’s Advisory Committee on Building an Inclusive Community (PACBIC) is seeking individuals to join its Employment Equity Working Group to explore strategies and initiatives to increase and sustain the diversity of faculty and staff constituencies at the University.  The focus of the Working Group will extend beyond legislative compliance to include initiatives to enhance equity and diversity within the various employment contexts across the University.

The Working Group will strategize options to enhance diverse representation across all faculty and staff streams at the University of the target populations identified in the Federal legislation, namely, women, members of racialized communities, persons with disabilities and Aboriginal persons. Such options and initiatives shall reflect the varied experiences of staff in unionized environments as well as faculty at various stages in the recruitment, tenure and promotion processes.  Although originating in the context of employment, the initiatives suggested through the Employment Equity Working Group will make a contribution to the enhancement of diversity and the incorporation of inclusive practices throughout all facets of the University.

Members of the student community, union employees, TMG and all levels of faculty are particularly encouraged to participate.  For further details on the initiatives of the Employment Equity Working Group, please contact Jewel Amoah in the Human Rights & Equity Services (HRES) office at amoahje@mcmaster.ca or ext. 21867.
