The Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards (CAREB)
Friday November 18th, 2005
York University
York University is pleased to announce that it will be hosting
the annual meeting of the South-Western Ontario chapter of the Canadian
Association of Research Ethics Boards to be held on Friday
November 18th, 2005. The theme of this year's conference
is Emerging Issues in Research Ethics - Issues and Answers.
This conference is designed to stimulate action and change. This
conference will feature a plenary session to frame the current issues
in our field. The plenary will be followed by presentations relevant
to the emerging issues in research ethics. Our afternoon sessions
will be followed by breakout sessions designed to dig deeper into
each current issue, generate action items for addressing the current
issue and then report back to the group a communications and action
plan involving our institutions and the ethics secretariat of the
tri-councils.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Burleigh Trevor-Deutsch,
Associate Director Legal and Ethical Issues, for the Canadian Institute
for Health Research. Dr. Trevor-Deutsch will be discussing emerging
issues in medical ethics and the role and implications of the TCPS
