THE LIBRARY NEGOTIATIONS COMMITTEE AGREEMENT

YEAR 1: June 16, 1999 to June 15, 2000

  1. An Across-the-Board increase of 1.25% of the June 15, 1999 base salary of each MUFA librarian, effective October 16, 1999. This increase will not apply to salaries administered beyond the maximum of the salary range.

  2. A Merit Pool of 1.8% of MUFA librarian base salaries, to be paid on June 16, 1999, to be distributed based on an assessment of the performance of position responsibilities only. This increase will not apply to salaries administered beyond the maximum of the salary range.

  3. An increase of 1% in the LPDA, effective May 1, 1999.

  4. A Pension holiday of 50% Employee Contributions with a Corresponding Adjustment of the Termination Benefit (to maintain its value) effective June 16, 1999. In the event of any subsequent agreement (e.g., in the McMaster University Ad Hoc Committee for Retirement Provisions for Salaried Employees) that affects employee contributions to the Pension Plan, that agreement will supersede this negotiated pension holiday as of the implementation date of that new agreement.

  5. Implementation of Modem Pool Funding for librarians on the same basis as for teaching faculty, effective June 16, 1999.


YEAR 2: June 16, 2000 to June 15, 2001

  1. An Across-the-Board increase of 0.5% of the June 15, 2000 base salary of each MUFA librarian effective June 16, 2000. This increase will not apply to salaries administered beyond the maximum of the salary range. The salary scales for librarians will be increased by 1.75% effective June 16, 2000.

  2. A one-time Lump Sum Payment of $250 payable June 16, 2000.

  3. A Merit Pool of 1.8% of MUFA librarian base salaries, to be paid on June 16, 2000, and to be distributed based on an assessment of the performance of position responsibilities and engagement in professional activities. This increase will not apply to salaries administered beyond the maximum of the salary range.

  4. An increase of 1% in the LPDA, effective May 1, 2000.

  5. A Pension Holiday of 50% Employee Contributions with a Corresponding Adjustment of the Termination Benefit (to maintain its value) effective June 16, 2000. In the event of any subsequent agreement (e.g. in the McMaster University Ad Hoc Committee for Retirement Provisions for Salaried Employees) that affects employee contributions to the Pension Plan, that agreement will supersede this negotiated pension holiday as of the implementation date of that new agreement.

  6. Continuation of Modem Pool Funding for librarians on the same basis as faculty, effective June 16, 2000.


YEAR 3: June 16, 2001 to June 15, 2002

  1. An Across-the-Board increase of 1.25% of the June 15, 2001 base salary of each MUFA librarian effective September 16, 2001. This increase will not apply to salaries administered beyond the maximum of the salary range. The salary scales for librarians will be increased by 1.25% effective June 16, 2001.

  2. A Merit Pool of 1.8% of MUFA Librarians Base Salaries, to be paid on June 16, 2001, and to be distributed based on an assessment of the performance of position responsibilities and engagement in professional activities. This increase will not apply to salaries administered beyond the maximum of the salary range.

  3. An increase of 1% in the LPDA, effective May 1, 2001.

  4. A Pension Holiday of 50% of Employee Contributions with a Corresponding Adjustment of the Termination Benefit (to maintain its value) effective June 16, 2001.
