Mosaic Update

Student Functions
April 25, 2016

This update summarizes the ongoing work on several issues of concern to those who work with Mosaic's student functions. A complete list of the current top priority issues related to student functions in Mosaic is available and updated weekly.

Graduand and in-course reviewing

May is a traditionally busy month for student administrators as they work through evaluating students for graduation and in-course progression. This will be the first year where reviewing happens completely in Mosaic and the Registrar's Office and Mosaic team have been working hard to prepare. Notably, they are completing a final testing phase in conjunction with the Faculty Offices to ensure that Mosaic is ready.

A key component is the launch of a new tool in Mosaic: the Advisor Center. It provides significant new functionality, placing the most frequently used tools for student administrators in one place. It includes a Student Summary Report, a new alternative to the student record print. The summary report is intended to provide the most frequently requested information for student reviewing in a single, fast, easy to access page.

See the Advisor Center in action

To help you get up to speed on the new features of the Advisor Center, there will be an information session on May 5. Please attend to see the new center and learn how to get the most benefit from it. The session will be held in a computer lab so you can follow along in Mosaic and you are encouraged to bring IDs for students you are working on. The session will start at 11 a.m. and will be repeated at 1 p.m. on May 5. You must register for this event. (Each session is limited to 50 attendees so that everyone has a computer to use.) These information sessions are intended for those who advise undergraduate students and work with academic information in Mosaic.

Loading grades from A2L for combined/cross-listed courses

For those of you who support instructors who need to load grades from Avenue to Learn into Mosaic, a new guide addressing combined/cross-listed courses is now available. Loading grades from A2L for combined/cross-listed courses requires some extra steps, so please direct instructors with these courses to this guide.
