Abstract

Acryl compounds are widespread chemicals in many branches of industry, in medicine and in household. Acryl compounds are acryl acid, methacryl acid, their derivatives (ethers, amides and others), polymers and co-polymers on their base. Investigations of integrated hygienic aspects of acryl compounds production were performed. The pollution of work environment with initial, intermediate, final products and polymer materials dust was determined. The most important pollutants were (meth)acrylates and the lowest aliphatic alcohols. Biological effects of acryl and methacryl acids, their chloranhydrides, one- and two-atomic aliphatic alcohols, and some aliphatic nitriles were studied. Maximum allowable concentrations in workplace air for those chemicals were established. Functional changes in some organs and body systems were revealed by medical examination of workers. The signs of chronic methyl methacrylate intoxication were revealed in the group of workers exposed to it for the longest time period. Integrated approach to solution of some problems of occupational medicine in (meth)acryl compounds production industry allowed to establish measures for creating safe working conditions and preventing occupational diseases in workers exposed to these types of chemicals.
