An interesting question. We have investigated only the DAT, so whether the MAP2c has general effects on transporters, or specific effects on the only the DAT, are unknown. Distribution changes of GAT1 and SERT observed by other investigators suggest that similar mechanisms dependant on components of the cytoskeleton may possibly be involved for these transporters.
