Giving Report 2011

Only a handful of Canadian universities can boast the kind of history that McMaster has. As our University marks its 125th anniversary in 2012, it is appropriate to reflect on that history and remind ourselves of the milestones and influences that have made our University one of the world’s best.

Looking at our University’s 125 years, there are recurring themes that have shaped the McMaster of today: our drive to innovate in learning, our success in research, our long–standing devotion to diversity and inclusivity, and our leadership in community service. Reviewing McMaster’s history also reveals clearly the importance of philanthropy. Beginning with Senator McMaster’s founding bequest, philanthropy has provided our University with the opportunity to achieve excellence and the capacity to pursue the aspects of our work that are most distinctively “McMaster.”

I regard it as a privilege to be able to report to McMaster’s donors on the positive and transformative effect of charitable giving upon the University. You will have received a sneak preview of McMaster’s Giving Report 2011 by mail. This link givingreport.mcmaster.ca will take you to the full electronic version. The report uses video and other media to highlight the impact of your giving at McMaster. I hope you will take some time to peruse the report and I also hope you will renew your gift to McMaster during this special 125th anniversary year. Your support provides direct assistance to McMaster students, faculty and researchers and helps give them the tools they need to shape the beginning of McMaster’s next 125 years.
