Why I Give

Marvin Gunderman

Insect Taxonomist & Instructor
Department of Biology

"I am fortunate indeed to be working at McMaster University for the biology department and the faculty of science. I have the great fortune to have a job in which I am able to lead a team of dedicated staff in support of the academic pursuits of our students. Further, McMaster has given me the opportunity to utilize my expertise in entomology through lecturing in several undergraduate courses and to participate in public relations functions and several outreach programs in the community. I love teaching and interacting with the students and I am grateful for the support I receive in these endeavors from all levels at McMaster."

Lynda Bentley Poole

Assistant Professor and Level 1 Chair
School of Nursing

"At McMaster we have a BScN Program that is internationally renowned for graduating nurses who embrace lifelong learning and constantly strive to demonstrate excellence in care. A financial donation to McMaster can be directed towards scholarships to support student learning, which in the School of Nursing, is one way to ensure that expert, competent nursing professionals will be available to provide care for our friends, families and ourselves when it is needed most."

Román Viveros-Aguilera

Professor
Department of Mathematics and Statistics

"Having grown in rural Mexico, the opportunities I encountered when I came to Canada as a student were most striking. I then realized that many were funded directly by tax dollars, but others were the result of straight generosity from ordinary citizens. I personally benefited greatly from these opportunities and they made a great difference for me and many others. I have no doubt that our donations to the Community Campaign will create awesome opportunities for our McMaster students."

Vivian Lewis

Associate University Librarian

"I contribute to McMaster to help ensure that our students and researchers receive superlative resources, state-of-the-art services and world-class facilities. I'm proud to work at Mac and to live in the Westdale neighbourhood. I'm even prouder to know that I've given back to the University. I appreciate the opportunity to target my contributions to the areas I feel make the biggest difference in the lives of our students."

Judy Major-Girardin

Associate Professor
School of the Arts

"As a faculty member, my decision to donate to McMaster is an easy one. I know first-hand the challenges we face in the classroom and in our research and I have seen how dramatically donations have impacted our ability to realize new initiatives. Donations translate into tangible things but also they contribute to building an environment where faculty, staff and students feel recognized and valued for the work they do."
