My name is Samantha. I’m a music major and I play the flute. When I learned I was coming to McMaster and I was awarded an entrance scholarship and also a bursary, I was extremely happy because it helped me pay for my tuition and my books. I was just overjoyed with it!
I want to go to teachers college after this and teach at high schools. That is definitely my plan but if an orchestra comes my way and I audition and get in, then why not?
Most definitely, if I can make university much easier in terms of less of a burden for tuition and books then I would most definitely help out. I’ve received a lot of help over the last couple of years and I know how extremely expensive coming into university [can be] and, on top of that, there are living expenses as well, so between all of that it really does add up. I’ve been inspired because [donors have] helped me so that makes me want to, when I graduate, help students as well that are in financial stress.
I just wanted to thank all of our alumni very much for helping all of the students here, including myself. It really does go such a long way and we need all the support we can get. Thank you so much.
