My name is John McIntyre. I just recently graduated from my bachelor of science in biology and psychology and I was the vice president administration of the McMaster Student Union.
I received an entrance scholarship from McMaster and I was pretty excited. That definitely helped me make my decision of coming to McMaster. Over my four years here I’ve always had at least two jobs during the year and one during the summer, so if I didn’t get that extra money I’m not sure how easy it would have been to stay in school.
McMaster is definitely well known as one of the most innovative research universities and I think the best part about that is there are so many student opportunities to get involved in the research. I already had a couple opportunities during my time on campus to be involved in research and it helps you apply your education.
The generosity of McMaster donors has really inspired me because that’s what allows us to have all the facilities and it enriches our educational experience here. Without the generosity of these donors we wouldn’t have the student centre I’m in right now, we wouldn’t have this lovely campus. I think it goes a long way to not only getting the best students but the best researchers, faculty and staff that we could have at this institution.
If I had the opportunity to speak to my benefactors I would definitely say a huge thank you. McMaster has been the best four, and now five, years of my life. None of this would have been possible so I definitely thank them from the bottom of my heart.
