Just being at university is giving me a much better understanding of the way the entire world works. I went into Radiographics stream, so I’m definitely going to be an X-ray tech when I get out. And, then hopefully, maybe a couple of years down the road, I’ll go to Teachers College and maybe come back here. It’s amazing at McMaster; this is the first time I’ve been away from home, I’m learning how to make friends with people when I enter a room of complete strangers, which I have never had to do before. I’ve loved it.
If not for the support that I got, I might have ended up having to take another year off to work to make money. I would worry that once I was working and making money I wouldn't want to go back to school. So, had I not received financial support I might not even be here. And beyond that, just all the facilities here are amazing, and I know that I would not be getting the educational quality that I am if not for them.
I was in gymnastics for eight years of my life and then I was a coach for ten years. When I got here I thought I would have to work in all my spare time to make ends meet, but I ended up being able to join the gymnastics team and I had a fantastic time. I know that I’ve been helped out by so many alumni, so I want to pass the torch down.
Thank you so much for this whole experience - not for just just tuition, but for everything that donated money goes towards like the the facilities. Giving in general is a good thing to do, but giving to McMaster in particular is important, because it’s giving people a top notch education. I know a big part of that is due to donations, thank you.
