Set a User to run a program with Administrative Privileges
condition: When a User does not/should not have the administrative password

Option 1

Add the user to the local Administrative group. Logon with User account.

Run the program to allow it make Registry changes.

Log off the computer and remove the User account from the Administrator group.

Log on as the User and run the program.

This may work because the program has made the necessary registry changes. If this option fails try option 2 at your own risk.

 

Option 2

Run regedt32.

Export a copy of the registry before making any changes.

Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, Program Name

Select the folder or keys that the program tries to access.

Right click.

Select permissions.

Please document the permissions before making changes should you wish to revert back.

Click on Users group and check Allow Full Control. Click Apply and click on OK. Click on File and select Exit.

Note:

You may have to go to Hkey Users, Software, Program name and make similar modifcations.

You may have to go to Hkey Current Users, Software, Program name and make similar modifcations.

If option 2 fails, you may want to add the user to the Power User group.
