How to determine the IP address of your computer

 

Use TCP/IP Properties

1. Right click My Network Places and click on Properties


2. Right click Local Area Network and select Properties


3. You will get the following window, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on Properties


4. If your computer is set to use a particular IP address, it will be displayed. If it is set to obtain an IP address automatically, you should use option 2 or 3 to determine the IP address.

Use winipcfg or ipconfig

1. Go to the Command Prompt by clicking on Start | Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt


2. If your operating system is Windows 2000 or Windows XP type ipconfig /all at the DOS / Command Prompt and it will display your IP address and all the TCP/IP configuration for the network card. Type winipcfg /all for Windows 98 computers.
