Rob Cooper, Chief Risk Officer, is responsible for internal audit, enterprise risk, administrative strategy, leading change management and directing sustainability initiatives. Rob joined McMaster in 2006, and prior to assuming the role of Chief Risk Officer, he held the position of Chief Administrative Strategy Officer.

Rob is experienced in various industries, including manufacturing, banking, financial services and consulting.

Rob holds a B.Comm. (Hons.) and MBA from McMaster University and the designations of Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Director (C.Dir.), Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC), is Human Resources & Compensation Committee Certified (HRCCC) and Audit Committee Certified (A.C.C.).

  • Electronics Collection, Reuse and Recycling
    April 19, 2012

    If you have outdated or unwanted electronic devices, please take this opportunity to champion sustainability in your area by taking it to one of two collection locations on April 19th to be fully recycled.

    New . . . We have expanded our list of acceptable items to include anything with a cord. This means kettles, hair dryers, toasters and more!

    Locations include:
    • Main Campus Grassy Mall across from University Hall
    • Downtown Centre in the underground parking lot
    • McMaster Innovation Park
    • Ron Joyce Centre

  • McMaster University –
    One of Canada’s Top Five Cycling Schools
    According to Maclean’s, McMaster is one of Canada’s top five postsecondary cycling schools. McMaster University has followed the City of Hamilton’s example of promoting sustainable travel by focusing on initiatives aimed at reducing single-occupancy vehicle use, by promoting sustainable alternatives alternative modes of transportation and by responding to requests from the campus community for a better cycling environment.
  • On October 19th, McMaster's Third Sustainability Annual Report was released and presented to the community at the fourth annual Campus Sustainability Day celebration.
  • McMaster becomes signatory to the Hamilton Climate Change Action Charter, the first of its kind in Ontario.
  • MSU's Plastic Bottle Free Policy
    On September 19th at a meeting of the Student Representative Assembly an exciting milestone in sustainability efforts was achieved when the proposed Plastic Bottle Free Policy was adopted with unanimous consensus from the assembly’s voting members. This policy officially commits that no MSU money will go towards the purchasing of beverages in single-use plastic bottles.
  • The Administrative Strategies Office has established a MacTRAC User Group. This group has hiring managers from many departments and faculties who will work together to improve processes and tools used to hire employees.
  • The Human Resources Service Centre is pleased to announce the launch of a new online tool which provides employees with information at their fingertips. “Ask McMasteris a knowledge base of questions, answers and related links to HR and pay information. This information is provided to customers through an online question box that is available 24/7. Topics include benefits, vacation, tuition assistance, policies, and many more.
        Employees can just type in a subject or a question, and “Ask McMaster” will quickly deliver the answer as available. The Top 10 questions have proven to be a successful feature of the system and allows individuals to view popular topics at a glance. The responses can be rated using the “was this information useful” feature.  It is HR’s intention to utilize this feedback to continuously improve the service and  ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Expansion of McMaster's Composting Program: McMaster has successfuly expanded its composting program beyond Mary E. Keyes residence to include all of the following areas:
