Learn the science of making and using steel.

Developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, our Metallurgy of Iron & Steel Certificate has been serving learners in the local region for more than 50 years.  As of January 2013, the program will be offered completely online to support learners across the North America. Our interactive online program is the only academic certificate in metallurgy in the country. 

Who should take this program

• anyone who works in steel manufacturing or fabrication who needs a working knowledge of metals, their properties and applications
• sales, quality assurance, welding, purchasing, technologists,
  machinists, engineers from non-metallurgy disciplines, management,
  and administration professionals

Students should register for the first course in the program at least three weeks before it begins.

International Students

The Metallurgy of Iron & Steel Certificate is open to all students, no matter where they reside.  The course fees are the same for Canadian and international students. Instruction will be in English.  To complete the course work and assignments, you do not need to log into our course management system at any specific time.  When you do the work during the week is up to you.  Note: some courses in the program will have an optional live tutorial once a week (one hour), but these will be recorded so you can watch them later if needed.
