
Addictions Certificate and Diploma Requirements
* Addiction Careworker Diploma (8951)
Academic Credit – 24 Units
To qualify for the Addiction Careworker Diploma, students are required to complete 16.0 Units of required Core Course study, 4.0 Units of Skill Development Electives, and 4.0 Units of General Electives. The required Core Courses and Skill Development Electives ensure that the knowledge and skills necessary for work in the field are covered. The General Elective credit component allows you the flexibility to target your educational experiences to your particular work setting or learning interests.
* Certificate In Addiction Studies – 8922
Academic Credit – 15 Units
This is an elective program. To obtain the Certificate students must complete a minimum of 15 units of academic credit. You may consult with the Program Manager to develop a personal study plan to meet your identified learning needs based on previous education and experience in the helping or addiction fields. Courses are delivered in a variety of formats to accommodate your learning style and scheduling needs. Students may select their courses from among any of the courses offered in the Addiction Careworker program.
*All courses in the Addiction Education Program have been approved by the Canadian Addiction Counsellor Certification Federation for a specific number of education hours. These hours are required to fulfil the basic education requirements necessary for application to the qualifying examination for the International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (I.C.A.D.C.) certification.
