IMPORTANT MIGRATION NOTES

  1. Migration is scheduled in early June.
  2. If you don’t have one already, you will need an AP1 account. You have an AP1 account if you have a modem pool account, proxy access (library/web), or departmental mapped network drives on your computer (look for Q:, H: or S: drives). If you are unsure as to whether or not you have an AP1 account, you may contact the Technology Service Desk at ext. 24357 or uts@mcmaster.ca. If you don’t have an AP1 account, you will receive an email with instructions on how to get one.
  3. You will receive an email 48 hours in advance of the migration. Once the migration occurs, you will lose access to your webdocs/mcmail web directories. This down period should be restricted to 24 hours.
  4. After the migration is complete, you will receive an email detailing instructions on how to map a network drive to your web directory on the new server. This will include the server name and the share name for the web directory.
  5. You will no longer require FTP, sFTP utilities to manage your website on the new server. It will be done through your mapped directory.
  6. When creating/defining sites in Dreamweaver, you may edit your sites directly on the server entering the mapped drive location to your webdirectory. If you need help with this when the time comes, you may contact ways@mcmaster.ca.
  7. Other notes and important information may be found at http://www.mcmaster.ca/cis/ctl/migration.htm. This information will be posted as of the afternoon of May 29th.

Direct any questions or concerns not addressed above to Steve Way, xt. 24170 or ways@mcmaster.ca.
