Our office is responsible for FINANCIALLY registering you as well as the charging and collection of fees and management of every student's STUDENT ACCOUNT.

NEW !! We are proud to introduce 2 easier and faster online ways to pay your student account. By using the "Pay Now" button located on either the Payment Agreement or Account Statement or the "Pay Your Account" Quicklink on MUGSI, you can arrange safe and secure payments to your student account.

Paying through a CANADIAN bank account? - INTERAC Online

  • Payments made this way show immediately, and post to the student account the next day.We at McMaster University, we have created online resources and tools to help with the success of your financial responsibilities.
  • Currently, this method of payment is available to students who bank with BMO, RBC, Scotiabank and TD banks. You will need to have your bank card ready.

Paying through an INTERNATIONAL bank account? - Travelex

  • You can now pay in the currency of your choice
  • Travelex will provide an exhange rate guaranteed for 72 hours, in which time you take the confirmation to your bank and initiate the payment. Your bank pays Travelex in your country, notification is sent to Travelex here and the money is transferred in Canadian dollars to your student account at McMaster the next day.
  • Travelex is a quick and convenient way to make interenational payments withbout incurring the service fees or delays of a conventional International Wire Transfer.

Tips to Keeping you Financially in Control....

  1. Activate your MacID and password to log on to MUGSI and enable your McMaster email - this is our way to communicate with you.
    • TIP: Check both regularly for messages from us.
  2. Make sure your online registration is complete - After completing your SOLAR Registration, review and "Confirm" your Payment Agreement !
    • TIP: Be sure to scroll down and read the Payment Schedule, Messages and Terms & Conditions.
  3. Don't forget to check your student Account Statement online regularly!
    • Log onto MUGSI (My Student Account and Cashiers / Account Statement)
    • Know your balance / check for payments received throughout the year . Access is through MUGSI (MUGSI / My Student Accounts and Cashiers / Account Statement).
    • TIP: Need help navigating? Watch our Student Accounts Video. We have made some improvements since this video was created, but fundamentally it's still a useful tool to understanding your student account.
  4. Access your 2010 Tax Certificate (T2202A) online.
    • Available during the month of February. Returning students can find prior years' (2006-2009) certificates anytime. For 2003-2005 certificates, please contact the Student Accounts and Cashiers office at 905-525-9140 x 24478.
    • Access is through MUGSI (MUGSI / Tax Certificates).

At a glance, you need to know....

~ Dropping courses vs. Cancelling courses. Which affects me financially?

  • Dropping a course means that you have gone onto SOLAR before the end of the scheduled "Drop/Add" period to remove a course. Dropping a course has no financial penalties.
  • Cancelling a course means that you have decided to cancel a course after the scheduled "Drop/Add" period. Cancelling a course has financial penalties. Please refer to the "Cancellation Schedule" to understand your financial responsibilities.

~ In order to meet varying financial abilities of students, McMaster is proud to offer extensive Funding Options and our very flexible Payment Plans to help everyone . Please view the Payment Plan link above for more details.

~ If you require verification of fees for this coming year, a copy of your Payment Agreement should serve that purpose. If a more official copy is required, let us know and we will be happy to do a Reimbursement Letter.
