POLICY:

  1. PURPOSE

    To establish guidelines for properly insuring McMaster University equipment transported or used off campus. Insurance for shipments to McMaster from suppliers is the responsibility of suppliers unless specific other arrangements are made with the University's Risk Management Department.

  2. SCOPE

    This procedure applies to all shipments where the University is the shipper.

  3. RESPONSIBILITY

    The University has insurance on the above shipments, subject to conditions, including:

    1. deductibles, currently $1,000;
    2. proper packing (original or similar box).

    The deductible may be insured through the transport company, or by special arrangement with the University's Risk Management Department upon five (5) days minimum notice.

  4. DAMAGE

    Refer to McMaster's "Procedures for Reporting Accidents, Damages and Theft", circulated May 15, 1989 to all Departments.
