POLICY:

  1. PURPOSE

    To ensure that the regulations cited under the Export/Import Permits Act are followed.

  2. SCOPE

    The general groups under export control are as follows:

    1. Industrial Goods,
      e.g. metalworking machinery, chemical & petroleum equipment, general industrial equipment

    2. Munitions,
      e.g. small arms & machine guns, ammunition, munitions software

    3. Atomic Energy,
      e.g. deuterium, lithium, beryllium

    4. Technology,
      e.g. technology for metalworking machinery, inert gas & vacuum atomising technology

    5. Miscellaneous Goods,
      e.g. wild fauna & flora, medical products, foreign origin goods, forest products, textiles

    6. All goods shipped to destinations named in the Area Control List,
      e.g. South Africa, Libya

  3. GENERAL

    The Customs & Traffic Unit reviews all export shipping orders to ensure that the provisions of this Act are met. Failure to apply for authorisation to export controlled articles could result in the seizure and forfeiture of the articles shipped. In additions, this Act provides for substantial penalties for persons violating any if its provisions.
