POLICY:

  1. PURPOSE

    To ensure that claims are processed in a timely and consistent manner.

  2. SCOPE

    This policy applies to all University property lost or damaged in transit.

  3. RESPONSIBILITY

    It is the responsibility of the receiver to note any loss and/or visible damage upon arrival. It is the responsibility of the receiver/requisitioner to immediately contact the appropriate carrier and advise of any loss and/or visible damage. The carrier will instruct the caller on how they can proceed with the claim. When contacting the carrier, you must always reference the air waybill or bill of lading number.

  4. GENERAL

    Immediate notification to the appropriate carrier is essential. Delay may result in denial of the claim. The carrier may want to inspect the goods in the condition in which they arrived. Please keep on hand all packaging materials and documentation (supplier's invoice, packing slip, etc.).
