POLICY:

PURPOSE

To ensure that certain shipments receive additional control and are not delayed in transit.

SCOPE

This policy applies to shipments that are urgently required because of their nature, e.g. - perishable, time sensitive, high value etc.

RESPONSIBILITY
It is the responsibility of the shipper/receiver to contact Customs & Traffic with the name of the carrier, the date it was shipped, the air waybill number or bill of lading number and the commodity in order to trace the shipment.
GENERAL
In order to ensure that shipments of a time sensitive nature are expedited as quickly as possible, Customs & Traffic shall:
- Contact the carrier in order to be advised of current status and estimated time of arrival;
- If the whereabouts of goods are unknown, put a trace on the shipment;
- If the shipment is perishable and/or undeliverable, if possible, advise the carrier to store the goods in a suitable environment, e.g. freezer, refrigerator, room temperature;
- If the shipment is time sensitive, arrange immediate delivery or pick-up of goods by the recipient.
