Announcement – Accessibility Specialist Role at McMaster University
The Office of Human Rights & Equity Services (HRES) is pleased to announce that Raihanna Hirji-Khalfan has accepted the role of Accessibility Specialist. The creation of this role was recommended by the McMaster Accessibility Council to coordinate the University's compliance efforts with regard to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Raihanna brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served as the HRES Accessibility Specialist on a contract basis for over a year before her permanent appointment. She sits on the City of Hamilton's Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities and has served on the Board of Directors of the Ethno-Racial People with Disabilities Coalition of Ontario (ERDCO).
Raihanna holds a Master of Arts in Critical Disability Studies from York University, a Master of Science in Business and Information Technology from Aston University, UK, and a Bachelor of Laws from Nottingham Trent University, UK.
We're certain that Raihanna will bring her great leadership and community-building skills to the role, with a view to implementing McMaster's commitments on accessibility. Please join us in welcoming Raihanna to this role.
